Brownie & Girl Scout Programs

Mill City Museum offers special group rates for scout groups as well as programming specific to Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts.

Brownie Girl Scouts
Through the Years, 2nd-3rd

Have you ever wondered what snacks girls used to eat, or what early television commercials look like? Come to Mill City Museum and find out! Earn the “Brownie Girl Scouts Through the Years Try It” while participating in several hands-on activities about the 1950s. Bake ice-cream cone cupcakes in the baking lab, sing and teach commercial jingles, make hats and dress up like mill girls, and play card games in our hour-long program. After the program, stay for a while to learn about power in the water lab and to take the Flour Tower multi-media show. (Mill City Museum admission is included with the program cost.)

Junior Girl Scouts
Human and Habitats, 4th –5th

Are you curious about different types of bread or the different ways people have made flour? Come to Mill City Museum and find out! Earn the “Humans and Habitats Badge” while learning how different cultures grow and use wheat. Grind wheat with different types of tools, label maps, create a troop symbol, bake Popovers and taste two other types of breads from around the world in the Baking Lab. After the program, stay for a while to learn about power in the water lab and to take the Flour Tower multi-media show. There is a Mill City Scavenger Hunt and Take-Home Activity to do to complete this badge. (Mill City Museum admission is included with the program cost.)

Due to the nature of this program, girls or adults with severe food allergies should not attend.

Scout Program Registration
Reservations are through the Girl Scout Council.  Sign up for either of these programs through the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys Council. There is an online program guide with specifics of dates and times and how to book. Use the keyword “Mill City” to find the programs that we offer.
